Construction of Homa Bay County HQ as NLC gives land lease approval
As at Monday 13th May 2024, the National Land Commission (NLC) has approved the request by Homa Bay County for the development of new Homa Bay HQ. This building is expected to be completed by the end of the year. It was also made possible by the passing of the Homa Bay County Finance Act. This resulted to Homa Bay County Infrastructure Finance Fund Act of 2023. There is also a 532 acre parcel of land that will become the County economic zone. It will be leased out to investors.
The County has leased land to the CPF Group that will do all the developments. They will also refurbish the tourist facilities at the lake front and this will go a long way to boost tourism. Homa Bay County has indeed set the pace that other County Governments can follow. The NLC is indeed ready to facilitate similar transactions in other counties. The NLC has the mandate to secure and manage public land having been established in 2010. On the other hand, CPF Group offers retirement benefits schemes and both bodies will be crucial fir taking Homa Bay County to the next level of development.
