6th Cohort of the IYF Weekend Academy Program
The 6th Cohort of the IYF Weekend Academy Program held on 5th October at Moi Sports Centre in Kasarani was graced by CS Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, CS Kipchumba Murkomen. The CS was accompanied by PS at the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports.
The Government has a program called NYOTA (National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement). This program ensures that youth are empowered to create wealth. The IYF Weekend Academy Program has empowered youth across various fields of academics. This has led to a larger number of empowered youth since it is not limited to a specific career. The youth have been enabled to enhance their start ups through NYOTA, hustler Fund and Talanta hela. All the above avenues show the Government's commitment to youth empowerement. The youth have been empowered through two main categories: skills development and entrepreneurial activities.
In July this year, a collaboration between ministry of youth affairs, creative economy and sports and IYF, sent 30 youth to South Korea to represent Kenya. They took part in the world dance competition and emerged top by winning the grand prize. The IYF today announce the graduation of ceremony for 6,000 students. This is a huge milestone in terms of empowering the youth. They will be able to emerge as breadwinners even if the majority have not yet began families. This is because they will have resources to empower their younger siblings and show them that it is possible to make it in this economy with amazing Government support. Hence they do not need to see themselves as vulnerable but rather as empowered individuals with a bright future ahead.
