Glass House Landmark Report

According to Mary Njoki, CEO of Glass House PR, the industry is at a defining moment: “Digital disruption, demographic shifts, and increasing demand for strategic communication are reshaping PR in Africa. This report provides a roadmap for professionals, businesses, and policymakers to navigate these changes and harness storytelling for impactful engagement.”

The report reveals key insights into the industry's transformation. Perception remains a major challenge, with 22.22% of respondents citing a lack of understanding of PR’s value. Budget constraints, economic instability, and high client expectations also hinder growth. Despite these hurdles, storytelling remains crucial, with 41.38% of professionals emphasizing its role in aligning narratives with African values. Cultural sensitivity is equally vital, with 62.96% of respondents highlighting its impact on campaign success.

Glass House PR, a leading Pan-African public relations firm, has released The Glass House PR Report: State of PR in Africa, a data-driven analysis of the evolving public relations industry across the continent. The report engaged over 28 public relations agencies from 15 African countries across North, South, East, and West Africa. It combines insights from industry leaders, PR professionals, and the public to highlight the trends, challenges, and opportunities shaping the industry.

Building brand awareness remains a primary objective, with 37.70% of respondents citing it as their main focus. Measuring brand awareness within specific communities is now a key success metric, reflecting a shift toward targeted and data-driven strategies. Data analysis and measurement are gaining importance, with 22.67% of professionals identifying them as critical skills for the industry’s future.

The report also sets the stage for Africa Global PR Week, scheduled for August 27th–29th, 2025, in Nairobi. This event aims to foster collaboration, upskill PR professionals, and promote best practices across Africa. Stacey Baluske Mtika, an award-winning PR professional from Zambia, emphasized the importance of such platforms: “Africa’s PR industry is evolving rapidly. Events like Africa Global PR Week allow professionals to exchange ideas, embrace innovation, and shape the continent’s communication landscape. Collaboration is key to staying ahead.”

As PR in Africa undergoes transformation, The Glass House PR Report serves as a crucial guide for industry stakeholders. By embracing technology, AI, and culturally relevant storytelling, PR professionals can unlock new opportunities for meaningful impact and sustained industry growth.
