NHC Public-Private Partnership
National Housing Corporation (NHC) is a statutory body established under an Act of Parliament: Housing Act cap.117of the Laws of Kenya.NHC mandates include the following:
1. Develop and manage affordable housing.
2. Implement government housing policies.
3. Collaborate with private and public sectors for housing projects.
4. Manage government housing assets.
5. Provide financing options for home buyers (though maybe not direct mortgages).
6. Slum upgrading and improvement.
7. Land acquisition and development.
8. Research and development in housing.
9. Promote sustainable and innovative housing solutions.
10. Facilitate home ownership through various schemes.
National Housing Corporation on 5th March 2025 held a Public - Private Partnership Investor Conference. It brought together key stakeholders and potential investors to advance the affordable housing agenda. The conference focused on the development of 2,820 housing units under phase one of the Stoni Athi Waterfront City Project. This PPP model is aimed at accelerating the delivery of affordable housing in Kenya.
The Chief Guest was Cabinet Secretary Hon. Alice Wahome from the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development. Other distinguished guests included the following: Hon. Yusuf Chanzu, NHC Board Chair. David Mathu, NHC Managing Director. Ms. Sheila Waweru, CEO of Affordable Housing Board.
