Multichoice a leading pay TV provider launched a local show themed Shanga with a maasai background story at Maasai Lodge. This launch was a clear statement that local content is gearing up to better standards. It will replace Salem on DSTV Channel 163 and GO TV Channel 3. It will air Monday to Friday at 8:00 pm. It will feature Brahim Ouma and Foi Wambui. Shanga is the story of Soila, a Maasai girl. She forcefully stands up to Naibei, someone who no one ever challenged in that village. 4th National Dialogue Conference

People Driven Reforms based as opposed to recommendations from the NADCO Report. NADCO has brought down political temperatures as there are no more street protests. However, we have left it to the political class to determine the direction to be taken on IEBC yet this power should be with the common wananchi. Political accomodation between Kenya Kwanza administration and ODM gave birth to NADCO. The Presidential and the former Prime Minister are focused on securing AU membership and this is defining the political tempo. Previously, a Presidential candidate used to also run for MP at the same time. Since this is no longer the case, NADCO is proposing that the runners up on Presidential elections to become Prime Minister with two deputies. Also coming into the picture is the Office of the Opposition Leader with two deputies. It has nothing to do with benefiting common mwananchi, it is to the benefit of politicians.  NADCO report seems to insert 8 new articles and amend 24 arti...

Clergy meets medics

Remarks by KPMDU We demand for the CBA to be signed and implemented as we mark 40 days of strike. Ther have been meetings with Government last week on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Council of Governors represented local governments while Ministry of Health represented the national Government. The issue of internships should not be kept on hold waiting for court processes before implementing. The courts should not be left to determine the fate of intern doctors. How can we trust court processes if CBA deposited in court was violated. The number of doctors to be employed should be increased since the ones on duty are a very small ratio to the population of the country.  Remarks by Kenya Union of Clinical Officers So far the Government has not called them to the table despite 22 days of strike. Only two counties have responded, Homa Bay and Kajiado but not fully honoured hence not back to work. They have given their petition to the clergy as middle ground persons to th...

Launch of petition on Sudan War

Introduction A look back at the Kenyan situation of post elections violence of 2007 is that multi lateral institutions e.g UN were here to intervene and stop further blood shed. Any small effort helps to stop a war. If it was done in Kenya in 2007, the same can be done with Sudan War. The established panel was at the level of heads of States. Sudan as a country has not dealt with underlying issues since the end of colonialism. The 5th anniversary of the fall of Al Shabir exposed this soft underbelly. Promises after 5 years had been ignored and not fulfilled. The 30 years of Al Bashir rule, militias were formed to fight rebel groups. The militias caused displacements by burning homesteads and committing sexual violence The promise to disband these militia groups wasn't fulfilled.  April 15th 2023 was the breaking point. One major factor is lack of accountability since no one is ever held to account for any violations and yet these violations date back to 30 years ago.  RSF were...
