KEHPHPU address to President Ruto

(KEHPHPU) The Kenya Environmental Health and Public Health Practitioners Union has issued an urgent appeal to President William Ruto’s administration to prioritize preventive and promotive healthcare through increased investment and strategic reforms. KEHPHPU Secretary-General Hon. Brown Ashira Olaly, the union commended the government for its progressive legislative achievements in 2023, including the Primary Health Care Act, Digital Health Act, Facility Improvement and Financing Act, and the Social Health Insurance Act. These developments, coupled with the establishment of Primary Health Care Networks, represent positive steps toward a robust healthcare system.   In Nairobi's Central Business District (CBD), designated areas for pick-up and drop-off are crucial for maintaining smooth traffic flow and ensuring safety for commuters. These areas are primarily designated by the Nairobi City County Government to help reduce congestion and allow for safe vehicle movement. These pick-up and drop-off zones are part of ongoing efforts by the Nairobi County Government to regulate traffic and ensure commuter safety. The use of designated zones helps avoid disorder and reduce congestion in the highly trafficked CBD area. We are against County officials who have sold spaces in the CBD to do many numerous saccos and are still going on with the same plans. New waste regulations will increase cost of business by 70 per cent, say alcohol manufacturers, ask National Assembly to nullify it Nairobi, December 13, 2024: The alcoholic beverages sector has asked Parliament to nullify a set of new regulations that, if implemented, could increase the cost of production by 70 per cent.  The Alcoholic Beverages Association of Kenya (ABAK) said the Sustainable Waste Management (Extended Producers Responsibility) Regulations 2024 (EPR Regulations) would end up causing more harm and derail progress made in sustainable waste management.  The regulations, which are undergoing scrutiny by the National Assembly’s Committee on Delegated Legislation, seek to impose charges on materials used in packaging manufactured products.  They are informed by the idea that a manufacturer’s responsibility over waste management should extend to post consumer waste stage, disposing packaging they use responsibly.  ABAK contends that the ministry responsib...

Plea for justice for 1998 bomb blast victims. We are urging both the Kenyan President as weyas the incoming American President to fulfill compensation that has been pursued for 26 years. With time passing by, some victims have passed away and their children currently suffering with issues of unpaid school fees. Countless families are currently suffering as a result of no action taken. This issue is beyond monetary compensation, the real issue is acknowledging the pain.  We demand that the Kenyan President addresses the issue of compensation, immediate Presidential action by tomorrow, Jamhuri Day celebration. We also demand judicial accountability over missing court documents.  This was highlighted in a case presided over by Hon. Justice Mugambi.
