KENAS Makes History with Africa's First Biobank Accreditation Under ISO 20387 : 2018

KENAS has made history as the first accreditation body in Africa to offer formal biobank accreditation under ISO 20387:2018. This steps positions African research institutions as competitive players in international scientific collaborations. It aldo creates opportunities for increased funding and ground breaking medical advancements 

Kenya Accreditation Service (KENAS) has launched a two day training program on biobank accreditation to ISO 20387: 2018. This marks a significant milestone for the organization and the African continent. The training has received support from British Standard Institute (BSI). KENAS has Express gratitude for BSI's role in facilitating knowledge and capacitor building in this critical sector. 

This initiative aims to elevate biobanks in Africa to globally recognized standards of quality and transparency. Biobanks play a crucial role in medical and scientific research by preserving biological sample used in genomics, drug development and cancer treatment. 

By aligning with these international standard, African biobanks will enhance their credibility and foster stronger collaborations with global research institutions.
