Kalonzo on IEBC

Image
Opposition leaders have vowed to move to court to stop the ongoing process of recruiting new commissioners for the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission if the government fails to consult them. In a press conference on Tuesday, April 1, the leaders, led by DAP-Kenya Party Leader Eugene Wamalwa, alongside Wiper boss Kalonzo Musyoka and PLP Party Leader Martha Karua, claimed the current recruitment process was unconstitutional. According to the leaders, the current process of recruiting new IEBC commissioners and a chairperson went against the National Dialogue Committee's (NADCO) foundations. The leaders claimed that because Raila Odinga - a long-time opposition leader - had signed an MoU with President Ruto, he could no longer be considered part of the opposition. During the presser, Wamalwa was adamant that while NADCO was meant to provide a platform for opposition and the government to engage in discussions of fundamental issues in the country, the Kenya Kwanza govern...

AVR and TB Commodities Stockouts

Image
Communities impacted by TB and HIV voiced their concern over the discouraging outcome of the Kisumu petition E008 of 2023. This ruling undermines progress and discourages future efforts to seek justice through the courts. We had expected the Judiciary to stand with the people and not against them. The Kisumu petitioners demand a long term strategy for ARV provision. There is a public echo for that call that plans should be in place for future solutions. Victims deserve compensation caused by the above outcomes. This is something that needs to be addressed in order to avoid more pain to the wananchi. The fight against TB and HIV cannot be won without legal frameworks that protects the rights of those affected. The dispute has left thousands of patients without access to HIV and TB drugs. We demand urgent reforms which should focus on long term solutions to guide against such disasters. Healthcare of the common mwananchi should not be taken for granted since taxpayers are funding KEMSA. ...

Image
A  major land scandal has erupted as Wiper Party leaders accuse   Kenya Railways  of illegally grabbing land belonging to retired railway workers. The retirees were originally allocated these properties as part of their pension benefits. However, the land has allegedly fallen into the hands of persons protected by government operatives.  According to Wiper leaders, this is not an isolated case, as over other estates, including Ngara, Makongeni, and Lower Hill Road, have been grabbed under questionable circumstances.
